Zvi Neta, chairman of Movement Devices, an importer of Suzuki vehicles to Israel, announced that a sponsorship agreement has been signed with the Israeli surfboard Shahar Zubari ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, which will open on July 23. The 34-year-old Zubari holds a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics. In 2008 he also holds, among other things, a bronze medal at the World Championships held in Auckland and gold medals from the European Championships in Tel Aviv (2009) and Sopot (2010).
Zvi Neta noted: “As part of the social involvement of Suzuki Israel, the company decided to sign a sponsorship agreement with Zubari, because without the support of private companies, Israeli athletes would not have been able to achieve Olympic achievements.” It was further stated by Neta that he plans to come to Spain next month and take a closer look at the World Windsurfing Championships and support the Sabri.
Zuberi, who competes on an RSX surfboard, won second place last November at the European Championships in Portugal, ahead of the prestigious title of the young surfer Yoav Cohen (21).
