Produced by Pooja Entertainment, Suryaputra Mahavir Karna is written and directed by RS Vimal of the acclaimed Manualam Ennu Ninte Moideen. The film’s teaser gives us a glimpse of the scale at which the film was made.

Indianexpress.com had earlier reported that the film was made on an estimated budget of Rs 300 crore, which makes it more expensive than Baahubali: The Decision (cost Rs 250 crore).

“Mahabharata is one big story that has inspired many filmmakers around the world. However, hardly any scripts are given on the celluloid from the point of view of Suryaputra Mahavir Karna. Bringing this story to life for the first time on the big screen with producers Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Jackky Bhagnani, ”said a statement from the makers.

The Vimal director told indianexpress.com that the producers have “hired renowned technicians of Game Of Thrones to work on the project. He also announced that the film, which will star Vikram in the lead role of Karna, will hit the floors by October this year. Suryaputra Mahavir Karna was announced in 2018, and was expected to hit screens in the first half of 2020. However, due to coronavirus infection, the burnout was postponed.

Suryaputra will release Mahavir Karna next year.
