Superman has a new use for classic power in a future state

Jon Kent’s power set is almost identical to his father’s, but Future State says he’s found a more creative way to use one of Superman’s more classic powers.

Since its introduction in Dan Jurgens Concordance: Superman # 2, there has been speculation about just how powerful Jon Kent will become and whether he can ever match his father ‘s legacy. While that may not yet be answered, the release of DC’s “Future State” has taken a closer look at his time as the new Superman. While Clark Kent’s influence on his son Jon is obvious, State of the Future: Superman / Wonder Woman shining a light on how Jon used Superman’s classic power in a classic new way to bring comfort to the city he defends.

As well as taking a fresh look at the familiar Superman / Womer Woman partnership, the magazine opens with a look at how future Superman Stateman Jon Kent begins his day as Man of Steel. After drinking his coffee in 2.7 seconds and dressing up, Jon uses the old reliable heat scene to create a “Good Morning Metropolis” message in the clouds for the entire city to see. This creative use of his heat scene is far from the usual way his father historically used one of the most famous and frequently used powers.

As a Kryptonian half, it’s no surprise that Jon seems to be just as capable as his father, but his human half and humble build under the wing of the original Superman’s father seems to have had a big impact on him, and the small move but kind of this. of care promotes that effect. Obviously, the loss of Clark Kent is a huge loss for the city of Metropolis and the land as a whole, but Jon seems to know this and he also knows to trust and To gain the respect of the city, he must go the extra mile to show how much he cares for them. Since Clark had been a Superman for years, he didn’t need to rely on moves like this to prove he deserved it and instead did it with consistent action on his own.

This must prove itself, combined with its human / Kryptonian heritage and humble construction, it seems to have inspired a strong defensive life in the new Superman. It also doesn’t look like Jon is working to become a father, but instead his own husband – his own Superman. As the story of “Future State” continues to develop, it remains to be seen what Jon’s legacy as Superman will be, but if his efforts to comfort and protect his city are any indication, it’s reasonable to think that Superman may be a lot better than his father ever was
