Successful launch marks Key Milestone for OneWeb’s ‘Five to 50’ Ambition

Construction took place on March 25 at 02:47 GMT. OneWeb satellites detached from the rocket and were delivered in nine batches over a 3 hour 51 minute period with signal pickups on all 36 satellites tested.

This is the second in a five-launch program that will enable OneWeb’s connectivity solution to reach all areas north of 50-degree latitude by mid-2021, with service ready to begin before the end of years, bringing OneWeb’s ability to connect millions of users into the northern hemisphere. These services cover the United Kingdom, Alaska, Northern Europe, Greenland, Iceland, the Arctic Oceans and Canada, and will be installed before the end of the year. OneWeb then plans to provide global service in 2022.
