Stream xQc for nearly 150 million hours to emerge as the highest climber in 2020

Twitch main stream Felix “xQc” Lengyel spent a lot of time earning instead, according to the latest Streche Hatchet statistics.

Stream Hatchet showed which of the top 10 streams in 2020 in terms of hours viewed across Twitch and YouTube. XQc was at the top with about 20 million, with nearly 150 million hours watched on its stream. Those who followed xQc were Alexandre “Gaules” Borba with 129 million and Jaryd Russell “Summit1G” Lazar with 109 million hours watched.

Whatever the gap, the top ten climbers in terms of hours watched drew huge numbers for 2020.

XQc is reaching the top, Twitch is still king of streaming platforms

One of the highlights of the top ten climbers in the hours category was the platform they are all on. Twitch remains a clear winner for streaming platforms in terms of what viewers spend looking at content creators like xQc.

The only “outside” broadcaster that would deserve in the top ten is Bruno “Nobru” Goes, and even then, he is considered a double climber on both Twitch and YouTube.

YouTube streaming will not appear on the list of top climbers until Donato “TheDonato” watched Muñoz, who is at 18th for most hours. Facebook Gaming is not too late at 26th for its first appearance, which would feature climber Saleh “Tarboun”.

Despite xQc and Twitch management streaming, at this point, YouTube was still displaying some impressive stats on the Hatchet Stream. In Q4 of 2019, YouTube had about 1 billion hours to watch for its game streams. A year later, in Q4 of 2020, there were nearly 2 billion hours on the platform for their streaming platform.

The numbers almost doubled within a year when streaming platforms exploded. In total, for 2020, YouTube Gaming rose more than 10 billion total hours watched.

YouTube has a few reasons for its success, which include its reach to a global audience and climbers. In addition, high-profile climbers became partners on that platform, including Rachel “Valkyrae” Hofstetter, the most watched female climber of 2020 and winner of Content Creator of the Year at the 2020 Game Awards.

Herschel Guy “Dr. Disrespect” Beahm IV was also on YouTube for half a year, though as a result of his ban rather than his partner.
