During the last 48 hours, four families gave their consent to organ donation, and thanks to them, 15 patients received a gift of life. Agreements for donation were received at the following medical centers: Soroka, Wolfson, Assuta Ashdod and Meir Kfar Saba.
The story of the late Karin Ohayon, who was killed in Be’er Sheva in a serious car accident
Karin, 23, from Dimona, was a second-year student of politics and government at the Ashkelon Academic College. At the same time, she worked as an IDF civilian as a construction engineer in Nabataean maintenance wings.
On the morning of Thursday (February 4), Karin was on her way to reinforce a team at the Hatzerim base due to the entry of soldiers into isolation. At 06:55, she lost control of the vehicle (the circumstances of the accident during a police investigation) and collided with a square on Naftali Hertz Imber Boulevard in Be’er Sheva.

MDA medics and paramedics provided her with life-saving medical care at the scene of the accident and evacuated her to Soroka Hospital in critical condition, unconscious with multiple systemic injuries. The doctors gave her an hour to live, but Karin fought to survive. During the week Karin received medical treatment from the best doctors in the Soroka intensive care unit, but unfortunately they were eventually forced to be diagnosed with brain death.
Karin had signed an Eddie card and encouraged people to save lives. Therefore the family’s decision to donate organs was unanimous and without hesitation.
In her life Karin has been generous, loving, hardworking, smiling and full of goodness and joy of life, always volunteering to help.
Karin’s organs were transplanted in five people: two lungs – at 43 in Beilinson, a heart at 56 in Beilinson, a liver at 57 at Hadassah, a kidney at 43 in Beilinson, another kidney at 50 at Rambam.
From the donation at Assuta Hospital in Ashdod, a heart was transplanted at Sheba at 49, two lungs at 64 at Beilinson, a liver at 72 at Hadassah Ein Kerem, a kidney at 47 at Rambam, a kidney at 63 at Beilinson.
From the donation at Wolfson Hospital, a 71-year-old liver was transplanted in Beilinson, a 62-year-old kidney was transplanted in Beilinson.
