Stoke City have agreed a six-month loan deal for Schalke player Rabbi Matondo, and have put their sights on Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis as well.

The Championship side moved swiftly to suspend competition for the Welsh international Matondo, who flew from Dusseldorf to Manchester ahead of the final terms.

Manager Michael O’Neill needs to strengthen his attack after Tyrese Campbell and Steven Fletcher were injured.

Matondo, a former Manchester City winner, had interest from Brighton, Watford and Bournemouth.

Davis, meanwhile, has made seven appearances this season and could get a more limited game time once Wesley Moraes recovers from a knee injury while Villa staying on the market for another attacking player.

Stoke are also considering Tottenham player Jack Clarke as they push for a promotion.
