State officials are investigating a police-related fatal shooting in Coral Gables

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Florida Department enforcement officers are investigating a fatal shooting involving police Friday in Coral Gables.

Officer Kelly Denham, a spokeswoman for the Coral Gables Police Department, said the crime scene was near where Mantua Avenue and Alahambra Circle meet.

A local woman said she first heard “uproar” and when she walked out to investigate she heard five to six blows being fired. She quickly ran inside, she said.

Officials warned drivers to avoid the South Alhambra Circle area and Blue Road. The crime scene involved two silver vehicles: A Chrysler minivan with bullet holes and a pickup truck.

Officers put a yellow tarp inside the minivan. The driver ‘s side window was broken and the ground and driver’ s seat were glazed.

Denham also said the Coral Gables Police Department turned the crime scene into the Miami-Dade Police Department.
