Half the NBA season is behind us, and it’s time to stop everything – and have some fun. Tomorrow (Sunday to Monday), in a slightly different format, the event that everyone is waiting for – Ulstar 2021, has started.
This year, as I recall, the All-Star Game will be held in Atlanta and will be an event intended for television viewing, as defined by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. This means that the All-Star, which usually spans an entire weekend, will be worn over just one night this time. During this night, the All-Star Game will take place, of course – with the Skills Challenge and the Triathlon taking place. In the middle of the game, there will be a ring competition. Due to time constraints, the rising star game will not take place – but remember, the staff was declared a sign of honor and our representative, Danny Abdia, was included in the European team.
The faculties to Allstar
Just like in previous years, fans made up 50% of the votes for the All-Star players – while the other 50 were made up of the players and the media panel. LeBron James and Kevin Durant, who received the most votes, were named captains. The other, by the way, will not play due to injury – but remains captain and selected his team in the election. In the game itself, Jason Taitum will replace him in the top five and Domantas Savonis on the roster.
Anthony Davis was also selected but will not play due to injury, and whoever was supposed to be – Devin Booker – was also injured and will be absent. As a result, Mike Conley was selected for the premiere. Aside from Conley, and after seeing 10 premieres last year, this time there will be four for whom this will be their first appearance in the prestigious game: Jaylen Brown, Zack Levin, Julius Randall and Zion Williamson.
“Tim LeBron”: LeBron James, Yannis Antecompo, Steph Kerry, Luca Doncic, Nikola Jukic, Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, Chris Paul, Jaylen Brown, Paul George, Domantas Savonis, Rudy Gober.
“Tim Durant”: Kyrie Irving, Bradley Bill, Jason Taitum, Kwai Leonard, Joel Ambide, James Harden, Mike Conley, Zion Williamson, Zack Lavine, Julius Randall, Nikola Wojciech, Donovan Mitchell.

The format
After the success last season, this season too the league will try to introduce competitiveness in the All-Star Game. Each of the first three quarters will start with a zero result and will last 12 minutes, with the team that gets the most points winning. The fourth quarter, however, will be without a clock – with the goal being to reach a certain goal. This goal will be the cumulative result of the team that won the previous quarters plus 24 points as a tribute to Kobe Bryant (e.g .: if the first quarter result is 100: 105, the goal will be 129). The team that reaches the destination first will win.
The coaches
Who will stand on the lines on the side of “Tim LeBron” is Utah Jazz coach Kevin Snyder, for whom this will be the first time to stand on the lines in the All-Star Game. On Durant’s side, the one chosen as the artist is Doc Rivers, who is winning a “job” for the third time in his career (2008, 2011). The two were selected on February 19 as a result of their teams’ achievements that night.
