Spotify HiFi – a new high quality music package

Tonight (Monday, 22.2), Spotify hosted its live StreamOn event, where it revealed a number of new things it is working on, with the company announcing in between the announcements that it will launch Spotify HiFi later this year, a new package that will join its existing packages and listen to quality music High, and for new collaborations in the field of podcasts with the DC Comics Company and with the production company of the Russo Brothers.

Spotify HiFi will allow subscribers to the new premium package to listen to high quality music without loss of information (lossless) and disc quality through the app and also through speakers that support the Spotify Connect service, such as Sonos speakers, and another 2000 in total.

At this stage, Spotify did not reveal many details about the HiFi program, but the company stated that it will arrive as a supplement (for a fee) on top of the existing “premium” package, which is available in Israel at a monthly price of NIS 19.90 for a single subscription, NIS 25.90 For a subscription for a couple and NIS 31.90 for a family (up to 6 subscribers).

Spotify has not revealed any technical details about the listening capabilities in Spotify HiFi nor about the format (FLAC, WMA, ALAC) it will use. Today, the company reaches a maximum “playback quality” of 320kbps, while competing services such as Tidal, which has been offering a HiFi program for a long time, allow up to 1411Kbps.

Along with announcing the addition of the HiFi option, Spotify has announced new collaborations in the audio field, the first of which will bring 9 different programs from the world of DC superheroes, focusing on characters from Wonder Woman, Superman, Cat Woman, Batgirl, Lois Lane, The Riddler and others. Another deal has been signed with the AGBO production company of the Rousseau brothers (Anthony and Joe), who directed the last two “Avengers” films in the series, but are not expected to bring with them new audio stories related to the world of Marvel.
