The chemistry that Holland shares with Zendaya is a big reason why the two on-screen people work well together and, in a new interview with Zendaya Backup, Holland goes into detail about how Zendaya helped his career and life. After announcing Robert Downey Jr. as his first choice for acting consultant, Holland cites Zendaya’s influence. You can read his full account below:

Zendaya is probably the second person. When we started firing the first one [“Spider-Man”] film, i, Iacob [Batalon], and I have all become best companions. She was so helpful in the process of changing my life, because not only are you making great movies and traveling the world, but everyone is starting to find out who you are. And you need a different behavior. It is your responsibility to support this idea of being a role model for young children. And, arguably, she’s the best at that. You can’t find anything against Zendaya, she’s a bit like the perfect man. It was so amazing to have someone like her in my corner, to help me grow through that process. And yes, I’ve made mistakes – I went through a stage where I hated taking pictures with people, and I was like, “No, no, no, leave me alone!” She taught me a lot, she was like, “Maybe that would put more pressure on you than saying yes and being nice about it.” She was so right. It’s been made a much smoother process. Having her as a friend has been so valuable to the success and happiness of my career and my life.

Holland ‘s comments speak to the different experiences in the entertainment industry that Zendaya has had. The actress began her career as a children’s model and backing dancer before gaining more attention thanks to her role as Rocky Blue on the Disney series Shake It Up. With the intense fandom that the Disney series awakens from its audience, as can the likes of Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus in attendance, Zendaya was much more accustomed to dealing with celebrities out there. Meanwhile, before being selected as Spider-Man of the MCU, Holland’s films were largely limited to portraits in historical drama and family thrushes. However, from breaking out as the Neighborhood Friendly Web-Slinger, it could not maintain anonymous confidentiality. It would make sense that Holland needed time to change, and it is good to hear that Zendaya made a point to help.

As the two continue to challenge themselves with unparalleled achievements, we hope they can work together on a different project in the future. Both Holland and Zendaya were highly commended for their inbound efforts Cherry and Calum & Marie, separately, and it would be interesting to see how the relationship would translate as characters rather than MJ and Peter. They might find themselves in a horror movie or a romantic comedy. Considering the following they raised, any collaboration would get enough attention. For now, hopefully, they will find enough time in the next one Spider-Man film.
