Spanish League: Granada – Osasuna 0: 2, Atletico Madrid against Sevilla

In Spain they continue to play football even in the middle of the week with two rematch games. First, Granada defeated Osasuna 0: 2 at home, who only a few days ago drew a 0: 0 draw from Real Madrid (in a rematch in the fourth round). After that, Atletico Madrid defeated Sevilla 0: 2 and ran away to the top.

Atletico Madrid – Sevilla 0: 2

All last four games between the teams ended in a draw, but not this time. Atletico Madrid, who play against Athletic Bilbao have been postponed due to the weather conditions, forgot about the embarrassing relegation to Cornia from the third division in the King’s Cup and recorded a positive for them tonight. Joao Felix was left on the bench by Diego Simeone and in the 17th minute it was Angel Correa, who broke a long drought and scored after a great save by Englishman Kieran Trifaire. Sevilla did everything to get back in the game, but in the 76th minute they absorbed again, this time from Seoul’s foot and the game was decided.

Thanks to the win, Atletico opened a four-point gap over second-placed Real Madrid with two more games to complete. Her stats are great: 13 wins in 16 rounds and just six mandatory goals. The Colchoneros have a long time to rest because they have been relegated from the Cup and will only play in nine days against Eibar away. The Andalusians, on the other hand, will host Belgans in the King’s Cup in four days.

Granada – Osasuna 0: 2

Diego Martinez’s team quickly recovered from the 4-0 defeat to Barcelona (which was the second consecutive league loss) and thanks to the points qualified for seventh place in the table. Colombian striker Luis Suarez scored his fourth of the season in the 22nd minute with a kick from the air with his left foot after a corner kick. Just before the break, the hosts took a double advantage with an own goal by goalkeeper Sergio Herrera after a corner kick by Darwin Machis.

Osasuna’s double substitution including the entry of striker Ante Bodimir in the 64th minute failed to help the team, which reached situations throughout the game but failed to score and it was a 12th game in a row for them without a win. Granada, and we are only in mid-January, has already recorded 29 games this season in all competitions and is doing very well in the load. Even before the next league round, the teams will play in the King’s Cup against rivalries in the sub-league (live broadcast on the sports package of Sports 1). Granada will host Malaga and Osasuna will meet Espanyol away.
