New Zealand fast player Tim Southee has been criticized for expressing disagreement at an umpire decision during the third International T20 against Australia in Wellington.
Southee was found to be in breach of “Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel”, a Level 1 breach.
In addition, one demerit point was added to Southee ‘s disciplinary record, for which it was his first offense in a 24 – month period.
The incident happened in the first leg of the match on Wednesday, when Southee shouted at the umpire in a disrespectful manner after a leg before a review of a wicket taken against Australian captain Aaron Finch named as umpire call and not given.

Southee pleaded guilty to the offense and accepted the sanction recommended by match referee Jeff Crowe and upheld by the ICC Cricket Works division in accordance with the COVID-19 interim play rules.
No formal hearing was required. Field umpires Chris Gaffaney and Wayne Knights, third umpire Shaun Haig and fourth official Chris Brown improved the costs.
A Level 1 breach carries a minimum penalty of official criticism, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s maids fee, and one or two demerit points.
