Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will not play against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday due to “Health and Safety Protocols,” but there is still hope that they could go on the road trip.
Sources have told AllClippers that the All-Stars are currently testing negative for COVID-19. If they continue to do a negative test, they could join the team before Friday against Orlando Magic. That can all change if they suddenly have a positive test, but for now things are looking okay.
Ty Lue spoke about the pre-match situation, but did not give a clear indication of when they would return.
“It’s so unsettling with the COVID situation, you never know,” Ty Lue said. “It’s sad. As you said we were playing well, bringing things together insultingly and defensively and that can’t stop tonight because PG and Kawhi and Pat are out … It’s time It’s sad, but thankfully those boys are feeling well, and they’re getting better and hopefully to join the team soon. “
Lue’s tone makes Kawhi and George seem sick, but we can confirm that both of them are currently on a negative test for COVID-19.
The Clippers ’next game is Thursday against Miami Heat, who may be without Jimmy Butler as he handles his own COVID-19 situation. The next game is against Orlando Magic when the Clippers are hoping Leonard and George can return.
