Sony will return the Xperia Compact to compete with the iPhone 12 Mini

One of Apple’s biggest announcements last year was the iPhone 12 Mini, which came with a flagship specification similar to the company’s largest and most advanced models, but in compact dimensions that allow for more convenient carrying and use of the device. Apple, of course, was not the first to do so, when Sony’s Compact series sought to provide a powerful solution in small sizes for compact phone enthusiasts several years ago.

A new leak by the well-known leak Steve Hamstopper (OnLeaks) marks the return of the “Compact” series from Sony, with an Xperia Compact device that will come in smaller sizes than many devices on the market, but these are not yet smaller sizes like those offered by Apple with its iPhone 12 mini. According to the leak, the dimensions of the Xperia Compact will be 140 mm high, 68.9 mm wide and it will reach a thickness of 8.9 mm, compared to dimensions of 131.5 mm high, 64.2 mm wide and a thickness of 7.4 Mm of the iPhone 12 mini.

At this stage it is not certain that the new compact model will be able to compete with other flagship devices on the market, and estimates that it is a flagship device are based on its affiliation with the compact series only, as details about the chipset and other parts of the device are still unknown.

The leak says that the Xperia Compact will come with a 5.5-inch screen with a recess at the top where the selfie camera will be integrated. On the back you can see a double photo array, which will include a 13-megapixel camera according to the leak. Despite its small size, it is difficult to ignore a few simple facts. The device is larger in size than the iPhone 12 Mini, for which there have been quite a few reports regarding its failure in the market compared to the other models in the series launched by Apple, with the other side being Samsung’s flagship device Galaxy S21.
