For many years the gaming community has been waiting impatiently for the release of Cyberpunk 2077, from the creator of Witcher 3. After multiple delays, the game was released a week ago to the world air, and its launch was indeed a financially dizzying success for the developer, CD Projekt Red, but you were a farce in all Concerning the technical problems that accompanied it. Now, the affair comes to a rather dramatic boiling point.

Bugs, crashes, glitches and other issues

Cyberpunk 2077 was launched last week for the PC and game consoles Xbox and PlayStation, and the launch was accompanied by quite a few glitches, bugs and various performance issues within the game. While on the PC most of these bugs do not ruin the gaming experience, the opposite was probably true for the old PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The developing company apparently failed to adapt the game to the previous generation consoles, and yet chose to release it to them. The network was filled with videos and photos of gamers showing off an almost impossible frame rate for the game, embarrassing rendering issues and multiple crash screens that just didn’t allow them to enjoy the expected game, for which they paid $ 60.

And
Even the journalists, including Gikti, were given access to the console copy just a day before being released to the market, so they could not warn buyers in advance and those waiting for launch day that they might not have to pay full price for a game not running properly on their console. It should be noted that the game runs relatively well on the next generation consoles, which actually run the game in the previous generation version. A version adapted for next-generation consoles, which will also take advantage of their capabilities (like Raytracing, high refresh rate and of course improved resolution), is expected to come out only during the next year.

Four days after the game’s release, the game’s developer released a post apologizing for the game’s performance on previous generation consoles. “We needed to pay more attention to how the game works on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.” The company also apologized for the obvious, in that it never showed how the game ran on these consoles, thus not allowing consumers to decide for themselves whether they were willing to pay $ 60 for a game that would not run well on their console.

The company has pledged to fix the bugs and crashes, and has announced that two major patches will be released in the coming months. Finally, she asked gamers to “give us a chance”, but announced that anyone who is not satisfied with the game’s performance on his console, can ask for compensation from Sony, Microsoft or the game store from which he purchased the product. The problem is, this process is apparently incompatible with Sony and Microsoft, which have refused to win over consumers who have approached them through the various support channels, to this day.

Now, in a dramatic and unusual announcement, Sony has publicly announced that it will start providing a full refund to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 through its digital store, and moreover – it has completely removed the game from its store “until further notice”. That is – even if you really want to buy the game now and play it on your PlayStation console, you just can not do it anymore.

Sony has launched a dedicated page, including in Hebrew, in which it asks the person who purchased the game to connect with his access details to PSN, and submit a request for a refund. “Once we have verified that you have purchased Cyberpunk 2077 through PlayStation Store, we will begin processing your refund,” the page said.
