Someone to conquer with: The dilemma in Maccabi Haifa’s attack

Beginning of an article

As the championship battle intensifies, and Maccabi Tel Aviv blows harder and harder at the back, Maccabi Haifa is facing a real problem – in the front: the injury of Nikita Rokavica in the game against MS. Ashdod on Saturday, left the Greens without its offensive executioner – and who appears to be the top scorer, for the second year in a row. And now the dilemma has been put in front of the coach, Barak Bachar – what exactly to do? Should we try and recruit a new striker (like Muhammad Awad), rely on the material at the forefront (i.e. Goodsway Donio) – or perhaps try to find a creative solution? With the road ahead, this is a good time to explore the possibilities – and also to hear your opinion. what would you do?

Option one – a new striker
In the summer, as will be recalled, Barak Bachar decided to release Muhammad Awad. He preferred both Rokavica and Jordan Shua, when he later brought in Godsway Donio. But Bachar did not plan the development created around Shua – and especially his unequivocal decision to leave in favor of Betar Jerusalem. The pioneer situation, which was significantly shortened, with the addition of the injury, left him – in fact – only with Donio, which requires a look out.

Awad is of course the most available option, and also the closest, since he is on loan from Maccabi Haifa; Next to him was another option, and that is the signing of the young Osama Khalayla from Bnei Sakhnin (when it is also a future investment in a player who can grow in the club for years to come).

Second option – go with the existing one
Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either. In 12 appearances this season in the Maccabi Haifa uniform, he has only one goal – and he is also making a serious mistake in defense. But in the bottom line, Donio came to Israel because of Bachar – who has wanted him since his days at Hapoel Beer Sheva. Both its history and the history of Israeli football can indicate that the negative trend can change. Maybe not at the level of Rokavica, but definitely at the level of a worthy striker. An attacking player needs confidence, and it is possible that with such confidence, Donio will be able to flourish – at least until the owner of the attacking position returns.

Negative option – the creative solution
A natural striker, with the exception of Donio, Rokavica and Stav Nachmani, is not to be missed. But what he definitely has is a host of players who are capable of scoring: Dolev Haziza, Omar Azili, Charon Sheri – all players who have shown sharpness in front of goal in the past. Therefore, Bachar will certainly be able to divert one of them to the position of the “fake striker”, which could release the rest, and possibly also the possibility of development at the level of the game, and additional possibilities even after Rokavica eventually returns.
