The Old Trafford outfit tried to sign the young striker last season and the manager admits he is keeping in touch with the 20-year-old.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he is still in contact with Erling Haaland and refused to rule out Manchester United making a move for the Borussia Dortmund man.
Solskjaer has a good relationship with the 20-year-old manager at Molde, and it is understood the Red Devils tried to sign him in the January 2020 transfer window before moving to the Bundesliga at finally.
A clause in his contract would allow him to leave for € 75 million (£ 65m) in the summer of 2022 and has led to frenzied profitability about his future.
What has Solskjaer said?
The United manager has been asked about a possible reunion with his former player ahead of the clash at Man Utd against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
He said: “I think once you have taken children and players through as a coach, you will follow them, of course. I keep in touch with Erling and it’s good to see him as the player he’s been and I know he’ll work to improve him all the time.
“He’s a Dortmund player and we just wish him well and we’ll see what life brings later. ”
Pushing for United to sign him up again in the summer, Solskjaer replied: “You know I can’t talk about Erling because he’s at Borussia Dortmund. I think it’s disrespectful to talk too much about it except that I know it and talk to it.
“Who wasn’t interested in a year ago? Everyone would say you would take the best players in the world and Erling is a great player.
“But for me, we are well employed. Dan [James] and Bruno [Fernandes] show that the signs that we have done since I came to the club have all added to and added to the squad and that is part of what we have to do.
“We need to add to what we have in our group with a variety of other players as well as young players. I am pleased with our recruitment model and the processes we will go through. ”
What did the Haaland representative say about the move?
Mino Raiola is representing the 20-year-old and spoke about his future in an interview this week with the BBC.
He said: “There are only a maximum of 10 clubs that can be purchased from Dortmund. There are four of them in England. You can phone them and say ‘would you be interested?’ I think there is no sports director or trainer in the world who would say he would not be interested.
“It’s like saying: ‘Is there a Formula One team that wouldn’t be interested in having Lewis Hamilton? ‘”
How many goals did he score?
Haaland has scored 43 goals in 43 goals for Dortmund since signing them in January 2020 from Red Bull Salzburg. This season he has 27 goals in 25 games and also seven assists for his club.
Who else is interested?
While Solskjaer coy remained interested in the young talent, he is interested in United. If they did move, however, it is understood they would face tough competition as Manchester City are in favor too – as is Real Madrid.
