Snapchat Remix feature confirmed to be tested, Will Rival TikTok Duets

Snapchat is testing a new feature similar to TikTok Duet, called Remix, which allows users to respond to snaps by recording their own Snaps. The new feature allows Snapchat users to reshape their friends ’stories and users can choose different formats to do so. This feature is currently under external beta testing and has been tested by an app researcher. Users can create a story and tag their friends to see how creative they can be. Since Snapchat only tests the Remix feature, it’s a bit difficult to tell when a stable version will be released.

Spotted by back engineer @ alex193a on Twitter, Snapchat can be seen testing the Remix feature. Just like TikTok Duets, Snapchat users can post stories, turn on a toggle to let friends Remix and share, then tag their friends, and see who can best replay their Snaps. Users can use either side-by-side, top or bottom or a photo shoot to record their Remix videos. The test was first reported by TechCrunch, which cites the company claiming the feature is currently in external testing.

TechCrunch also reports that the Remix feature could be rolled out to other parts of the app, including the Spotlight feature. To remember, Instagram for Reels, the only Twitter user, is working on a Remix feature of the same name recitation late last year.

The Spotlight feature was introduced in November last year to compete with TikTok. This feature allows Snapchatters to create photo or video content that can be shared with anyone using the social media platform, unlike regular Snapchat which only allows content to be shared with friends.

In other Snapchat-related news, the social media app recently launched a new feature that allows creators on Snapchat to publish their membership number if they wish to do so. This feature allows users with a public or business profile to share their membership. This feature is expected to appear worldwide soon. Also, Snapchat is adding music to its app to compete with the likes of TikTok and Instagram that already support this feature. The app allows users to select music from a long list of pre-selected music. Users can add the music before or after making their Snaps.
