Lakisha’s emotional post revealed Saturday night that Wesseling had lost his battle with cancer.

“2/5/2021: Linc won best guardian angel. Chris died peacefully yesterday afternoon. I was by his side, holding his hand.

“I know he no longer suffers giving me some comfort, but my heart hurts so much. I took him to the hospital on the 19th thinking he would be admitted for a few days like before … not knowing that that would be the last time he would be home. The cancer had spread to his lungs and other areas.

“I don’t understand. I’m stuck in a place between rejection and anger. Why do you give such a kind, loving soul? Why? Chris has made a lasting impact on anyone he has met, even in those days. One nurse handed me a letter to give to Linc the day after I brought him in to see Chris.I read it last night and this is one of the most beautiful letters someone randomly wrote. he wanted Linc to know what kind of man his father was becoming a complete stranger.

“I know Chris is in heaven looking down on us. I’m going to do my best to pick up Linc as I know he would like to. I see Chris every time I look at him. Linc’s face. I’m so thankful I can catch some of it with me. “
