Philadelphia 76ers defender Seth Curry is known throughout the league as one of the best hunters in the NBA. He’s one who can take off jerseys as they are layups and is shown with his 51.5% 3-point shooting percentage to start the season.
However, he also takes on more of a ball handling responsibility on this team as he assists Ben Simmons in that area of team offense. Through the first six games of the season, he has averaged 4.0 assists and had six of them in Saturday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets.
Curry has been able to make the two-man game work really well so far with Joel Embiid and also works great with Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris in a pick-and-roll role. The Sixers have a lot of talented players on offense and it is a click away to start the season because of the different appearances they can throw at teams.
“I’ve been having a lot more pick-and-roll plays with Jo and some dribble handoffs with Ben, even Tobias for a while, so everyone is rubbing her. members, ”said Curry. “Everybody’s in danger, of course, boys are going out on me at the 3-point line so I’ve had to be able to do a lot of different things. I got the chance to put the ball on the floor, ”
It helps that the Sixers now have a number of threats on offense. Philadelphia can run the pick-and-roll game with Simmons and Embiid and can also work on things between Curry and several options. At that point, it is up to Curry to be able to come to the right decision.
“Our range is getting better every game so once I get the paint, we’re spread out and I have to make the right decisions about who to whom I will pass, ”he said. “Our crime is not one-size-fits-all at the moment. As a team, we know Jo will do her thing. You can throw the ball to him at any moment, and get a good offense, but we are harder to defend when we have that and a lot of the stuff to go off. ”
His ability to handle the ball can give the Sixers few options on the offensive end of the floor. They definitely have to take advantage of that as the season progresses and it makes them a lot more dangerous with another scoring option out there.
Philadelphia host the Hornets again Monday to complete a two-game home series with them.
