Northampton scrum-half Alex Mitchell was called up to England’s United Nations squad ahead of Saturday’s defeat by Wales after Harry Randall pulled back with an ankle injury.

Randall, 23, who was in Bristol non-stop, was part of Eddie Jones’ training squad for England’s two opening games against Scotland and Italy, but failed to make the mother squad every time with Ben Youngs and was preferred by Dan Robson.

Mitchell, 23, who was previously included in England’s coaching teams, has yet to make a major appearance on England.
