There has been renewed skepticism as to whether the Six Nations will go ahead as scheduled as organizers seek travel exemptions from the French government.
The French government introduced strict travel restrictions into and out of the UK including a 6pm curfew, a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of travel, and a seven-day quarantine.
The European Cup and Challenge Cup were postponed earlier this month after the French government recommended that matches against British clubs be postponed.
However, Ben Morel, the leader of the Six Nations, is confident that the tournament will go ahead as planned. Morel said Wednesday that the group had considered a contingency plan to reorganize matches if necessary and are in regular contact with the French authorities.
It seems that how these restrictions will affect the competition as a place to debate with France start the tournament away to Italy on February 6, then visit Ireland, but This issue is likely to come to an end before Scotland’s visit to Paris on Feb. 28.
“We have provided all of our protocols. We are considered to be very robust and are seeking some clarification on the specific rules on quarantine exemption, which looked at entry from the UK, regardless of whether it is re – entry for existing French teams, or re – entry into the other unions, “Morel told reporters at the competition ‘s remote announcement.
“We have consolidated our certification protocols, with the key point being that we double the test and in the week before we enter the international camp. In general, elite sports are getting benefit from extensive exemptions and what we are waiting for is the details of the release.
“At the same time I think we are confident, based on our protocols, that that will be a positive outcome.”
Morel said that if any games were postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, there should be a place in the calendar for the reorganization, rather than one team getting a speculative win, as happened at Last year’s Autumn Cup.
“The main focus would be on reorganization,” he said. “The reason we went for immediate results at the Nations Cup was that it had to go ahead because it was a final weekend.
“Of course we want to protect the integrity of Six Nations sport as much as possible.
“We are confident in our ability to get the games on at the right time, it is more than a logical gymnastics that we need to change. “
