Sir Frank Williams was discharged from hospital and is now “repaired at home”.

A former owner and famous legendary 78-year-old chief was admitted to the hospital earlier this month.

In a positive update on Christmas Eve, the Williams team said in a statement: “We are delighted to announce that Sir Frank has been discharged from hospital and is now being repaired at home.

“The Williams family would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time, and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

Sir Frank and his daughter Claire dropped out of F1 in September after selling the family team to U.S. firm Dorilton Capital, although the Gove name bears the Williams name.

Williams, who has used a wheelchair since being paralyzed in a 1986 French car crash, has won more Builders Championships, nine, than any other leader in F1 history.

He led the team to 114 race wins over a unique 44 years over the uniforms.
