Simultaneous interception of UAVs and rocket barrages: a technological leap in the Iron Dome

Leapfrog in the capabilities of the “Iron Dome” system: Within a few months, the Homa Administration at Mapat in the Ministry of Defense and Rafael successfully completed a third series of experiments in the “Iron Dome” system, which proved the technological leap in the core of the system. Simulates existing and potential threats, including simultaneous interception of several UAVs and rocket and rocket barrages.

The series of experiments joins two previous series, in which additional significant capabilities for the Navy and Air Force were successfully demonstrated. The series was held in an experimental field in the south of the country, with the participation of fighters from the Air Force’s air defense system. The “Iron Dome” system in its new configuration will be operationally absorbed by the Air Force and strengthen the multilayer defense system against missiles of the State of Israel.

The development of the “Iron Dome” weapons system is led by the Ministry of Defense through the Wall Administration in Mapat. Raphael is the developer of the weapons system. IAI’s Elta Division has developed the MMR radar. Amperst has developed the command and control system.

Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said: “The Israeli technological superiority provided by the industries through the Iron Dome and the multi-layered defense system is a cornerstone of our defense system and Israel’s security. In the face of changing and diverse threats from our enemies “I am critical of the security of the state. I would like to thank the technological teams in the Wall Administration, Raphael and the other partner industries, thanks to which the citizens of Israel can sleep peacefully.”

The head of the Mapat wall administration, Moshe Fattal: “30 years after the Gulf War, following which a wall administration was established and 10 years after the first operational interception of the Iron Dome system, we are today completing a technological leap in the system’s capabilities. In three series of experiments within a few months, we have jumped the capabilities of the Iron Dome system into the next generation of threats: complex, loaded and challenging missile and rocket barrages, clusters of unmanned aerial vehicles and more. The Iron Dome system in the new configuration will be operationally absorbed by the Air Force and will further strengthen the State of Israel’s air defense system. “

Senior Vice President and Head of the Air Defense Systems Division at Raphael Brigadier General (Res.) Pini Jungman: We have just completed a series of experiments and brought another capability to the defense of the State of Israel. “We are not waiting to see what happens on the other side and how the enemy develops its systems – we assess what is going to happen and bring the system’s capabilities to overtake the enemy and the threats.”
