Siemens Healthineers raises around EUR2.34 billion

Siemens Healthineers AG said Thursday that it has raised approximately 2.34 billion euros ($ 2.76 billion) through an accelerated book-building process, which it plans to use to secure part funding for the construction of Varian Medical Systems Inc.

The German medical equipment manufacturer said it added 53 million new shares to institutional investors at EUR44.10 a share after they launched the capital increase late Wednesday.

Approximately 16.2% of the offer was distributed to the Qatar Investment Authority, the company said.

After the internship, Siemens AG’s direct and indirect participation in Siemens Healthineers will decrease to just over 75% from approximately 79%.

“With this shared space, we successfully completed the Varian-related part and implemented the funding structure as originally announced,” said Jochen Schmitz, Chief Financial Officer of Siemens Healthineers.

“The deal will also increase the free float and therefore the attractiveness of our share,” he said.

Siemens Healthineers last year agreed to take over Varian for a purchase price of around $ 16.4 billion.
