Shiomi announced charging of the devices from the air

Over the weekend, Shiomi unveiled a new charging technology called Mi Air Charge, which makes it possible to charge smartphones with a maximum power of up to 5 watts, without the need for cables or a charging station. The company’s Twitter account states that it is possible to charge multiple devices with the help of this technology, while playing, walking around or even when someone passes by you – without the need for a wired connection.

The wireless charging is based on a transmitter with 144 antennas, which sends signals directly to the devices. These waves are received with the help of 14 other antennas that will be integrated in supporting products, and will convert the signals into energy that will be able to charge the device. The company further stated that “in the near future”, the system will also support smartwatches, bracelets and other wearable accessories.

This is a revolutionary technology that could completely change the entire market. However, do not be in such a hurry to get excited – since Shiomi did not specify a date when the revolutionary system will be available to the general public, and in any case – if it ever reaches consumers, it will probably be very expensive.
