‘Shaw is a great tool for us’ – De Gea suggests in the full-back form of Manchester United

The Spain goalkeeper has been delighted to see his teammate recover as well as he has been in recent months.

Luke Shaw is “a great weapon” for Manchester United, according to David de Gea, who has praised the full-back for his 2020-21 achievements.

Shaw has made 163 appearances for United since moving to Old Trafford from Southampton for £ 30 million ($ 41m) in 2014, picking up Europa League titles and a Community Shield along the way.

The 25-year-old struggled for form and fitness under both Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, with the two men ultimately unable to get the best out of the defender.

It wasn’t until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returned to Manchester in December 2018 that Shaw began to justify her price tag, and just over two years later he has firmly established himself as a key member of the squad.

Some of England’s best international shows have come over the last few weeks as the Red Devils have emerged as contenders for the Premier League title.

Shaw played another 90 minutes of action during the 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Saturday, driving the team forward at every opportunity from the left back while also keeping Nicolas Pepe quiet at the other end of the pitch.

De Gea has a big impact on the influence of the former Southampton star, and she believes his continued presence will be crucial for United ‘s chances of meeting their targets in May.

“It’s a great weapon for us,” said the Spanish goalkeeper MUTV. “I think the last few games he’s played have been very good. He’s a very important player for us and when he’s fit and playing at 100 percent I think he’ll make this team better. ”

De Gea also secured a special commendation for Edinson Cavani, who has scored five goals in 20 games for the Red Devils since joining Old Trafford on a free transfer in October.

Asked what a Uruguayan striker looks like to train, the United No 1 replied: “He just wants to set goals! He is a very experienced player who has achieved many goals for many teams.

“I think everyone has seen his virtues, he is always trying to set goals and he is always in the box ready to jump in on any mistakes. and take the ball and score. He’s a great leader on the ball, he pushes a lot, he’s a good player for the team. ”

Shaw and Cavani will both be back at work when United host Southampton in another crucial Premier League game on Tuesday night.
