Seven’s Holey Moley mini-golf show beats the NineFS MAFS reunion in TV rankings

Shame on MAFS: Launch of Holey Moley’s mini golf show at Seven hits controversial Nine Married At First Sight Grand Reunion series in TV rankings

Married At First Sight has been a platform for Channel Nine for years.

But it looks like a fierce competitor is now at the controversial test stepping up to the tee.

On Monday night, the launch of Holey Moley’s mini-golf program specifically defeated MAFS ’Grand Reunion in the rankings.

Holey Moley, hosted by Sonia Kruger, saw an impressive 983,000 metro spectators come in to see how the wacky competitive reality show would play out.

At the same time, MAFS only recorded a five-city metro audience of 781,000, which was down from more than 80,000 viewers the night before through the two-part special.

It’s a worrying sign for what’s to come when Nine unveils their eighth season of the upcoming original show on February 22nd.

MAFS finished fifth (2018) and sixth (2019) seasons overall for its seasons in the rankings, but during its seventh season in 2020 it dropped to second place against competitive programming.

Towards the end of the 2020 MAFS season, the series had seen a dramatic decline of 25% of metro viewers during the finals.

Holey Moley’s seven-piece series was modeled off the U.S. show of the same name, which immediately became a ranking for ABC in 2019.

The show brings together the ‘most skilled’ little golfers from across Australia for a series of challenging one-on-one bats.

Sliding behind the two Monday night programs was the launch of Channel 10 their second season of The Amazing Race with just 501,000 metro viewers.
