On the day of the Capitol Hill riot, Donald Trump sent his tweet blasting Mike Pence for ‘lack of confidence’ to reverse election results after learning that his vice president had been out of the Senate floor for his own safety.
Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville revealed that he spoke to Trump on the afternoon of Jan. 6, the day Congress confirmed the election results.
Tuberville told reporters Wednesday night that he told Trump he could not speak because the protesters had broken into the Capitol.

The phone call between Trump and Tuberville has been reported previously but the fact that Tuberville told the president about Pence is new information. It was not clear when Trump learned what kind of risk a penny was in that day.
A penny was taken out of the Senate chamber at 2:14 pm, according to video footage from that day. He was hiding in a nearby room, with his wife Karen and daughter Charlotte.

At 2:26 pm, Pence was evacuated again – this time from the room in which he was near the Senate chamber to a more secure location in the Capitol building.

The protesters had broken into the Capitol at 2:11 pm, causing the removal of Pence and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was president of the House.
That afternoon, Trump announced Republican Senator Mike Lee from Utah – but by accident.
Trump was thought to be calling Tuberville, who had said he would oppose some states’ election votes.
Trump wanted to talk to Tuberville about broadening his challenges and slowing down the certification process even further. But he dialed Lee by mistake.
Tuberville spoke of the call as it came up Wednesday, during the Democratic impeachment managers ’case against the former president.

A large gallows was erected outside the Capitol building. Castro asked seniors to look at that image for a minute.
