Scary Documentation: A 2-year-old father and daughter invaded the elephant cage

The father of a two-year-old girl decided to get up close and personal with his little daughter and a giant elephant at the California Zoo, and documentation from the event shows that the elephant did not really like the idea. Jose Navarre, 25, carried his daughter through two fences, one of which was electric, into the elephant compound at the San Diego Zoo last Friday. Following the incident, the father was arrested by local police. View the startling documentation from the zoo:

In the video you can see the father, lifting his daughter on his hands and entering the elephant area, but then one of the elephants is startled by their presence and runs towards them. When the father saw the reaction of the nervous elephant, he immediately fled the scene and knocked the two-year-old out of his hands while crossing the fence outside. Luckily, none of those present at the incident were injured, the father managed to pick up his daughter and got out of the cage.

The San Diego Zoo said in a statement to ABC News: “The father and daughter entered the habitat where our Asian and African elephants are located unlawfully and illegally. The security staff of the place responded to the incident but the two also left the habitat until they arrived.” Nebrata was also reportedly arrested following a case and is being held on $ 100,000 bail for child abuse charges. The father responded: “Overall I wanted to take a picture with an African elephant.”
