Saturday Night Live “-” Antisemitic lie “: a storm surrounding a joke about Israel

The Minister of Health, Yuli Edelstein, and the Israeli Ambassador to Washington, Gilad Ardan, today (Monday) attacked the old American satire program, “Saturday Night Live”, following a critical joke against Israel that appeared in the latest program.

In the latest episode of SNL, the show’s presenter, Michael Che, said: “Israel reported this week that half of its population has been vaccinated against corona. Let me guess – this is the Jewish half,” following the global criticism of Israel for not giving vaccines to the Palestinian Authority.

“Hi, you are on SNL, I update you that anti-Semitism is not funny, it is dangerous and false. By the way, we have vaccinated more Arabs in Israel than most countries in the world. Satire is supposed to be amusing, not shocking, and your ‘joke’ is an anti-Semitic lie “In a country where two and a half years ago, 11 Jewish worshipers were murdered, just because they were Jews,” Edelstein tweeted.

“I like humor, but anti-Semitism is not funny. Your ‘joke’ ignores the fact that the vaccination campaign in Israel is successful because it is accessible to the entire population – Jews, Muslims and Christians. Apologize!”, Arden added.
