New acquisition for Hapoel Holon: This morning (Monday) the team announced the signing of Nate Sastina (23, 2.06) on a contract until the end of the season, with an option for another season. Sastina will only be able to play in the Premier League and the Balkan League, since the registration date for the FIBA Champions League ended a few weeks ago.
Holon coach Stefanos Dadas commented on his signing, saying: “Knight is a player I have been following since the summer, and comes from a great college. The fact that he is a rookie made me hesitate to build on him, but he is a great man with an outside shot, and that fits my philosophy. “The tall players, since he has three factories. He will give us depth and confidence.”
Sastina played for five years at the colleges, first at Buckennell and his fifth season at Kentucky. In his first season in college he suffered a shoulder injury, which caused him to miss most of the season and extend his college term to five years. He spent the first four years in college at Buckenell College, with his fourth season being the most successful of them all, a season in which he averaged 15.8 points and picked up an average of 8.5 rebounds per game.
This season, Sastina played for the Long Island Nets from the G-League, scoring 7.7 points and picking up 3.8 rebounds. In October he agreed to join Nizhny Novgorod but eventually did not play in its ranks. In December he signed a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets but was released at the end and returned to the G-League.
