SUMMARY – Juan Santamaria (San Jose) airport was closed at 6:00 pm due to an ash fall following a recorded Turrialba volcano eruption at 4:30 pm.
Silvia Chaves, a spokeswoman for Aeris, the airport’s manager, said the temporary closure would continue until midnight.
According to Chaves, so far the closure has not affected outside flights, but they have not said which of the flights is inbound.

Last March 12, the closure of the airport affected more than 7,000 for about 16 hours.
