Samsung is suddenly testing out radical new smartphones

In the Galaxy S21 range, Samsung has already revealed what their best smartphones of the year are. But now the company has determined what will be (virtually) the most exciting new smartphones in 2021.

Flying under the radar, former Samsung Display vice president Choi Kwon-young quietly confirmed during a company employment call with the Elec that Samsung will be developing radical new smartphones and smartphones in 2021.

The company did not provide further details at this stage, but these futures devices could revitalize a region that has deteriorated in recent years. In addition, modern hardware would also lead to a new software interface and innovative app design to take advantage of these form factors. The expectations are oral.

Building on this, Samsung also confirmed that it will expand their Galaxy smartphones this year. Discounts suggest up to four new models, expanding the existing Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip lines with “small to medium displays”. Such a move should bring down the cost of the revised but financially exotic smartphones, something that is crucial if Samsung is to achieve mainstream commercial success (the 2020 Galaxy Z Fold 2 starts from $ 2,000).

And this is where the big picture begins to come together. With early sales of the Galaxy S21 range again under suspicion, Samsung has almost lost the battle with Apple in the form factor of traditional smartphones. As a result, the company is now moving on to the next battlefield: flexible smartphones.

That said, it’s hard to understand Samsung to make a head start. Apple’s own patents show that the company is already working hard on their first foldable iPhone.
