SINGAPORE – Samsung announced Monday that its next smartphone launch will take place on January 14, where it is expected to launch the latest versions of its flagship Galaxy phones.

Invitations issued by the world’s largest smartphone maker announced that the event will be broadcast on Samsung’s website at 10 a.m. ET (11pm SIN / HK time) next Thursday.

The event is scheduled to launch the same week as the CES 2021 digital-only – the biggest tech show of the year, where large companies often showcase their new products.

Samsung, South Korea’s electronic giant, will typically launch their flagship Galaxy devices in February, near or during the Mobile World Congress trade show.

Samsung did not reveal much in its invitation to the Jan event. 14. However, previous media reports of leaks suggest that three phones could be named: Galaxy S21, S21 + and S21 Ultra, which are likely to succeed with the company’s S20 devices.

Last year, the South Korean company said its third-quarter earnings were partly driven by the sale of smartphones, including the Galaxy Note 20. But Samsung expected tough competition in the Korean market. smartphone and consumer electronics space in the last quarter of the year, which analysts said was likely due to Apple ‘s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

Samsung president and mobile communications industry leader TM Roh said in a blog post in December that Samsung will be expanding its portfolio of smartphones, making these devices “more accessible to everyone” in 2021. These devices are on Samsung’s pricier head. a family of smartphone products, with the Galaxy Z Flip costing nearly $ 1,400.

Roh also mocked “pro-level camera and video capabilities” in Samsung’s new smartphones and added that some of the features available in the Galaxy Note devices could be added to other mobile devices.

Samsung Electronics shares in South Korea rose nearly 3% on Monday.
