Sakurai explains why Rex Xenoblade is not the ultimate DLC Firefighter

During last week Ultimate Smash Bros. presentation, Sakurai explained how the team considered being Biography of Xenoblade 2The main character Rex fights alongside Pyra and Mythra but simply couldn’t because of the small size of the game.

Sakurai has now explained this in his latest Famitsu column, again explaining how the team’s idea (of two different fighters at the one time) refused due to technical obstacles. Eventually, it was decided that the fighter would change into two similar but different characters.

“When it was decided we wanted to create a character from Biography of Xenoblade 2, the first thing I thought of was showing and moving Rex and Pyra at the same time on the screen. But it was decided that it is impossible at the pace of a game. I asked the team to investigate, but it was impossible. ”

“When we talk about 2 people moving as one group, the Ice Climbers. They have the same appearance and can only do the same things. When we tried Rex + Pyra, it was clear that we could not take the necessary action until they had them. [data] capacity higher than processor threshold. ”

“The system to have Rex as the main hero and Pyra keeping an eye on him also proved to be a challenge. The design was so complex that a lot of things had to be done. “

“Rex had to be moved by himself. But then I thought it would be better if we could switch between Pyra and Mythra. ”

So this is why Rex didn’t make the cut as a DLC hero. At least it got to appear in the final scene smash for the new DLC fighter. What do you think of the latest two-in-one character? Did you hope Rex would be a playable character? Share your thoughts below.
