Saar registered his party: “New Hope”

Gideon Saar, who announced his resignation from the Likud last week, registered his new party with the party registrar this morning (Thursday). The name that Saar sought for the party is “New Hope for the Unity of Israel”, and among its goals as stated in the register: activities to realize the natural and historical rights of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel; Establishing the identity of Israel as the state of the Jewish people, which is a democratic police force; And the protection of its values as the nation state of the Jewish people, which upholds human rights and practices equal rights for individuals.

Additional goals of the new party are: developing the country, encouraging a policy of population dispersal and strengthening the social and geographical periphery; Encouraging settlement and agriculture in the Galilee and the Negev, in Samaria and Judea, and on the eastern boulevard – from the Golan Heights, along the Jordan and the Arava coming to Eilat; Promoting the education system and strengthening the status of the teacher and educator in society; A free economy, while ensuring a fair opportunity for all and a commitment to mutual guarantee; And promoting reforms in all state authorities, including in law enforcement and judicial systems and the system of government.

As you may recall, MK Yifat Shasha Bitton announced yesterday that she has joined Saar’s party, as number two of his. The two issued a joint statement, according to which it was agreed between them that “in the government headed by Saar, Yifat will serve as acting prime minister and his deputy, and will head a social cabinet, which will lead the work in social areas, with an emphasis on education, health, livelihood and welfare.” Advance moves to change the electoral system and administration, which will include: limiting the term of office of the prime minister to a maximum of eight years, changing the Knesset election system and giving the public power to elect at least some Knesset members, and transferring powers from central government to local government.

Deputy Health Minister Yoav Kish, who served as head of Saar’s election headquarters in the Likud presidential primary in which he ran against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that Saar is working against the right. “I do not see him as a person with perceptions of the left,” he said in an interview with Israel Today, excerpts from which were published this morning. “But if the right can lead through the Likud and Netanyahu as prime minister, and he opposes it, then he is against the right. Although he is not in left-wing views, he is certainly acting against the right.”

Kish said that after losing in the primaries, Saar was debating whether to leave the Likud and embark on a new path: “I told him that I think he should stay, and that leaving would be a mistake. Even today he is wrong. I will not speak against him. He has a lot of talent and abilities, but he did It is a grave mistake that he left the Likud. ” He made it clear that he did not intend to follow in Saar’s footsteps: “I am a second generation Likud, my mother was a center member. I never thought there was any idea of going anywhere else. He made a serious mistake, and it is a pity he made the mistake. I do not think and do not intend to go to nowhere”.

Kish added that Saar’s declaration that he would not sit in the government under Netanyahu was a mistake: “I think this is not the time for polarization and messages of division. There are great challenges such as the war in Corona, the economic, political and security situation. I can say that in light of Netanyahu’s achievements “In this complex term, with the change in the Middle East and also with the Corona, he has once again proved that he is the right person in the right place for the State of Israel.”
