Ryan Garcia says Manny Pacquiao ‘s fight is happening, but Conor McGregor insists he still wants a boxing match against a Filipino legend.

Ryan Garcia has said a fight between him and Manny Pacquiao is going to happen.

On Sunday morning, the 22-year-old light star was reportedly in ‘initial talks’ about a game that could go against the now 42-year-old Filipino legend.

Or even a full day later, Garcia posted a fan-made fight poster on Instagram along with the following caption.

He said: “A dream has come true. It is an honor to share the ring with Manny Pacquiao.

“I will always respect what you have done inside and out. This is the best winner. ”

As things stand, according to ESPN Mexico, talks are underway for the fight, although it is understood nothing has yet been signed and sealed.

It is also reported that September is the target date for Los Angeles as the venue, although offers from Saudi Arabia would be considered.

If Garcia vs Pacquiao came to fruition, it would be a huge blow for Conor McGregor.

The Irish UFC star was beaten by Dustin Poirier on Saturday night, apparently finalizing plans for a possible boxing match with Pacquiao.

At his post-fight press conference, McGregor admitted he would still be open to going over to boxing again.

However, it looks like Pacquiao is making other plans.

Garcia told talkSPORT Fight Night about his respect for Pacquiao at the weekend.

“I try to be a great role model for this younger generation,” he explained.

“I think that has been missing for a long time, with the exception of Manny Pacquiao as a good example.

“As soon as you reach the top, people like to forget how they got there and they don’t share their stories and they don’t glorify God.

“I will stay true to myself and try to be the best example I can set for the younger generation.”
