The H5N8 strain of flu has been highly contagious and deadly to birds, but was never detected in humans before Saturday.
Popova described this as “an important scientific discovery” and said it would only “tell time” whether the virus could go any further.
She said, “Discovering these mutations when the virus has not yet been able to pass from person to person gives us all, the whole world, time to prepare for possible mutations. and respond in an appropriate and timely manner, ” AFP are named.
A spokesman from the WHO said the group is in talks with Russian national authorities and is assessing the health impact of the flu.
“If proven, this is the first time H5N8 will affect humans.”
WHO identified the infected people as “asymptomatic” and no other transmission issue was reported among humans.
