The Roohi trailer, which features Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma, was released on Tuesday. The film, formerly starring Rooh Afza and then Roohi Afzana, is a horror comedy directed by Hardik Mehta, who helmets Kaamyaab in 2018, and co-wrote Trapped (2016).
The film tells the story of a witch, Roohi (Janhvi kapoor) who clears a bride on her honeymoon. As two men, Veer and Raj (Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma) from the city take on the task of saving the brides from Roohi, they are at the heart of the plot.

With its details and cunning nurses, Roohi will make you weird. Most of the scenes are loaded with great VFX, and a spooky soundtrack, essential for an awesome movie.
Janhvi Kapoor plays a witch who is only liberated if she is married to a man. She can turn her neck 360 degrees, and her legs are turned back. Yes, in the trailer itself you’ll know that the film is full of witchcraft, but Janhvi looks promising, and her prosthetics make her look confident.
Rajkummar Rao on the other hand will remind you of his funny character from Ludo at Anurag Basu as he has the antics, costume sense and dance steps. However, this time, Raj ‘s character stutters and his disadvantage is used as a humorous relief in the film.
Varun Sharma seems to be in good shape, his comedy time is incomparable. His sympathy for witchcraft gives the film a human touch and we understand that, like Stree Maddock Film (2018), this film will have a hidden social message as well.
The Indian Express had the opportunity to view the trailer a day in advance at Maddock Films’ Mumbai office. We understood how the film is made for the big screen, and it was wise from the film’s producer, Dinesh Vijan to wait for the theaters to open in full capacity before they release it.
Roohi is scheduled to release in theaters on March 11th.
