Fausto Puglisi once declared an elegant cross between Carolina Herrera and Axl Rose. It’s a description that lies in the memory for being so vibrant as it seems unlikely. It was, however, entirely appropriate. Puglisi’s gender design has pomp and elegance; he makes costumes for women – Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Beyoncé – who travel with a camera crew and others who represent themselves in their shiny image.
His role at Roberto Cavalli, announced last October, was no more fitting. Puglisi grew up on the kind of Italian glamor against you used by Gianni Versace and Cavalli. The trick, of course, is to capitalize on the taste of va-va-voom until 2021. We’re approaching a year in sweatpants, although it will help Puglisi’s cause that a new generation of record-setting designers -business thinking according to body sequences, sex too.
“It’s a brand connected to the remoteness of Italy,” Puglisi said on Zoom’s call, “a man with such glorious energy from the past, but at the same time I think about the days that we live and think about what the future can be like. ”His first move was to throw a wide range of models; this season ‘s RC ranks include Daniela Santiago, star of the new HBO Max show Veneno, which tells the story of Cristina Ortiz, a trans image from the 1990s.
The collection hits all the Cavalli beats: It’s molto heavy on animal motifs, and the fabric is trimmed to show off a lot of skin. Puglisi’s signature two-slit dress, made famous by J.Lo and Kendall Jenner, reappears in RC prints. That said, not everything is directed for the nightclub or the red carpet. Cavalli built its brand on fashionable denim in the 1970s. Puglisi colored her denim in the black and beige shapes that dominate the season’s palette. Hoodies, puffers, and leather perfectos with gold claw embellishments are also established.
But of course, the high drama scenes are the ones to record. Kim Kardashian West has been sculpting Roberto Cavalli’s old veil for the past two years, including a tiger face dress that Cindy Crawford once wore. Is it any wonder that the tiger’s face appears so prominent here?
