Biden called his first day as President a day of history and hope. Renewal and resolution, ‘but he later dashed his hopes because he told Americans’ there’s a lot to repair. Much to give back. Much to be healed. Lots to build. And much to gain.

‘There are very few times in our country’s history that have been more challenging or difficult than the one we are in now,’ he went on to call for ‘unity’ at these separated times.

‘Today, on this January day, my whole soul is here: bringing America together,’ Mr. The President said. ‘Uniting people. And uniting our nation. I urge all Americans to join me in this cause. Coming together to fight the common enemies ahead: Anger, humiliation, hatred. Extremism, lawlessness, violence. Disease, unemployment, despair. ‘
