Ribery former Bayern Munich star open for Bundesliga return

The Fiorentina striker is considering his next move with his contract set to expire in the summer

Former Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery has revealed he is open to returning to the Bundesliga, although he stressed that he is currently focusing on the Fiorentina normal side.

Ribery became a legend at Bayern after joining the club in 2007, winning the Bundesliga nine times over 12 seasons with the Bavarians.

The French international has joined Fiorentina ahead of last season and has become a key player for the Viola, making 15 Serie A appearances this season.

Ribery ‘s contract with Fiorentina expires at the end of his current campaign and even at the age of 37 he is considering playing on it – probably back in Germany.

“At the moment I’m just thinking about Fiorentina, I’m important to the team,” he said Bild. “But I do not refuse to return to the Bundesliga when I am finished here. ”

Ribery also spoke out about some of the issues at the former club, including Leroy Sane’s summer signing status.

Sane has started just half of his 14 appearances in the Bundesliga this season and his head coach Hansi Flick made headlines last month when he knocked Sane out of a game he missed. -into before as sub.

Ribery has backed Sane to succeed at Bayern, saying it ‘s no surprise to see more tenure players get the nod ahead of Sane.

“I believe in Leroy because he is still young, he has quality and talent,” Ribery said.

“Players like Kingsley Coman or Serge Gnabry have been with the club for a long time so they have a better knowledge of the coach’s game philosophy.

“Sane comes from Manchester City, a big club where he has already proven his quality in tough competition.

“But football is not easy, there are many factors involved. Sane knows there is competition in Bayern too. Since he knows this from Manchester, he will have no problem with it.

“The four Bayern climbers should support each other. Sitting on the bench should not be a reason to hang your head – you can still make the difference in 20 minutes.”

Ribery also opted for the David Alaba saga, which is likely to leave the club after talks about breaking down a new contract.

“David is a Bayern man, he won the treble twice,” Ribery said. David is understanding and is no longer a small child. He made a name for himself in the world of football, he won it all.

“Bavaria always stood behind David, the relationship was good. I think it would be better if both parties got a solution. But sometimes it’s not appropriate. This is life , this is football. “
