Igor Kolshov returns to Israel: Maccabi Rishon Lezion today (Tuesday) officially announced the guard’s transfer until the end of the season. Kolshov will not be on the roster against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday, but is expected to make his debut next week.

Kolshov, who will reach a second term in Rishon Lezion, left Kazan after not playing in the media this season. Kolshov’s goal was to accumulate minutes of play, while Rishon Lezion sought to deepen the back line – so for all parties this is a worthwhile deal.

According to an old contract signed between Rishon Lezion and Kolshov, even when he was a youth player, the team still has a right of first refusal and therefore in Israel, Rishon LeZion was the only option.

Kolshov, as I recall, received the approval from Fiba during the current season that allows him to be considered a local player in the Russian league. This is his second term in the team, where he played in the 2018/19 season.

Meanwhile, Rishon Lezion received a reassuring message today from Jamil Wilson, who was injured during the victory over Herzliya yesterday. The forward underwent an MRI that ruled out a serious knee injury, and determined that it was only an injury. He will miss the meeting with Maccabi Tel Aviv, and is expected to return next week.
