The Central Election Commission this evening (Thursday) published the almost final results of the elections to the 24th Knesset. The turnout in the election was 67.4%.
The Likud with 30 seats, Yesh Atid – 17, Shas – 9, Blue and White – 8, Right – 7, Labor – 7, Torah Judaism – 7, Yisrael Beiteinu – 7, Religious Zionism – 6, The Joint List – 6, Tikva New – 6, March – 6, RAAM – 4.
The bloc of parties supporting Benjamin Netanyahu, including the right-wing faction, enjoys only 59 seats. Netanyahu’s opposition bloc – the Left, Arab, Saar and Lieberman parties enjoy 61 seats.
The excess mandate given to new and right-wing hope in the distribution of votes, which swayed throughout part of the counting hours, remained with “New Hope.”
The chairman of the Labor Party, MK Merav Michaeli, and the chairman of Yesh Atid, MK Yair Lapid, met tonight to discuss possible collaborations to form a “Coalition for Change and Change of Netanyahu’s Rule.” It was decided that further talks would take place later.
It is estimated that Yair Lapid will be able to get the most recommenders from the president, and it is possible that next week he will receive from President Rivlin the mandate to form the government. The Likud is considering the possibility of forming a right-wing minority government that will rely on the avoidance of the Ra’am party, but Bennett and Smutrich oppose such a coalition.
New Tikva party chairman Gideon Saar commented on the election results, saying: “With the publication of the final results of the election, it is clear that Netanyahu does not have a majority to form a government under his leadership.
Central Election Commission CEO Orly Adas said upon the publication of the final results: “This is one of the happiest days of my life. “There are amazing employees here who have made tremendous efforts, soul players of the public service, a General Staff patrol that cannot be ignored and what we have done here all along.”
