Report: US Valid in Iraq | Israel Today

U.S. Air Force planes attacked targets south of Baghdad, the Lebanese news network Al-Miyadin, which is close to the Iranian axis, reported tonight (Monday through Tuesday).

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a rally in the northern city of Babylon, killing at least 80 people.

A local source told the news network that there were casualties in the attack and that American planes had circled over the area earlier. Other media outlets in Iraq have reported that the assailants are pro-Iranian militiamen and it is possible that the media affiliated with Iran consider the militia members as part of the Iraqi army.

A senior Iraqi journalist reported that government websites revealed that there were no casualties to the army forces and that the casualties were apparently of the Hezbollah Brigades organization in Iraq and the targets of the attack were advanced weapons caches and missiles.

Despite reports in various media outlets, no government or military official in Iraq or the United States responded to the news and neither did the media affiliated with Shiite militias in Iraq report the attack.

In the last weeks of President Trump’s tenure, tensions in Iraq have risen for fear of US action against Shiite militias and the Iranian presence in the country. Despite the tensions, aside from a missile attack on the U.S. embassy late last year, peace has been maintained in the country.
