Report: Six Syrian soldiers killed in attack

Six Syrian soldiers have been killed and several others injured in an Israeli attack near the town of Zabdani in southwestern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which is affiliated with the country and is based in London, reported today.

According to the report, a missile depot used by the Syrian army and the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah was destroyed in the attack, as part of the organization’s missile accuracy project. In the attack on the warehouse, which is located near the village of Nabi Habil, there were no casualties, but a battery of anti-aircraft weapons that opened fire on the attackers was destroyed and the casualties are members of the Syrian army’s air defense system.

The human rights organization claimed that the mountainous area around the town of Zabdani is used by the Syrian army, Hezbollah and the pro-Iranian militias in Syria to stockpile weapons in case of a conflict with Israel. The combination of a mountainous landscape route, proximity to the Lebanese border and a population loyal to the regime has made the area an important crossroads in the armament system of the Iranian axis in Syria.

Yesterday, the state news agency in Syria, Sana, reported that a Syrian soldier was killed and three others were injured in an Israeli attack near the capital Damascus. The news agency also reported that the air defense systems had managed to shoot down some of the missiles fired at Syrian territory. Photos and videos uploaded to social media showed a fire and explosions at an unknown point in Syria.
