The Clippers want Lonzo Ball, but are trying to find a way to get by without giving up too much.
According to Marc Stein, the Clippers are exploring possible multiteam trading scenarios for Lonzo Ball. The reason for this is that the Clippers lack a selection in the first round, but also do not want to ignore overvalued players.
At this point, it has become very clear that the Clippers are trying to gain a point guard during the trade date. There have been a few rumors about getting big men like Myles Turner, but it’s all based on guards. As for the guards they want, it seems to go in this order: Lonzo Ball, Ricky Rubio, and George Hill.
The Clippers get any of the three guards they want, the team just needs to find out exactly what they are willing to part with. On paper, their team should have been good enough to win a competition without making a move. The Clippers started 16-5 in the first 21 games of the season but went 10-11 in the next 21 games of the season. The unexpected loss is why they are suddenly in the situation they are in now. They have little choice to offer the first round because of Paul George ‘s trade and have cleared out most of their funds to collect the roster they now have.
The NBA Trading Date is March 25th. The Clippers have less than two days to make their move.
