Report: Jordi Cruyff will be appointed Technical Director of Barcelona

After a turbulent period, 58-year-old Joan Laporta was elected president of Barcelona last night after winning the election for the second time in his life, this time with just over 60 percent of the vote. Laporta, who is in his second term at the Catalan club, will replace Josep Maria Bartomeu, who resigned from the club’s management about six months ago.

The one who is still expected to be appointed to a senior position in the team of the new president is none other than Max Maccabi Tel Aviv, Jordi Cruyff, who will accept the position of technical director. According to media reports, Cruyff is expected to arrive at Camp Nou as early as next Wednesday so there will also be an official announcement of the appointment.

Cruyff, who has moved to China in the last two seasons is now expected to leave his role as Shenzhen coach from the Chinese league to officially join and return to a managerial position at the club where his father won as Barcelona coach, four Spanish championships, European Champions Cup and trophy.

It is also reported that the new management team led by Laporta intends to bring to the team this summer Sergio Aguero from Argentina, the star of Manchester City, who is also known for the deep friendships he has with the team star, Leo Messi.
